Surat: Sachin does not zoom around in his Ferrari any longer. A Surat-based land developer has purchased the car for a hefty amount from the cricket maestro. The sports car has reached Surat and is kept at the builder's personal garage at City-Light road. Even though the new car in town is mostly kept under wraps in the garage, it is the talk of Surat.
The Ferrari has been bought by Jayesh Desai, a well-known land developer of Surat and director of Rajhans Group. Desai and Sachin Tendulkar have been good friends for many years.
Some months back, Desai expressed a desire to purchase Sachin's fiery red Ferrari 360 Modena. After repeated requests, Sachin agreed to part with his favourite vehicle and a week back handed over the keys to Desai.
"I cannot express my feeling after acquiring this car. It's a dream come true. Sachin was not ready to sell it, but after seeing that I was very keen on having it, he decided to accede to a friend's request," Desai said.
Desai is believed to have paid Rs 1.20 crore for the car, which landed in Surat a week back. The new owner has driven it three-four times on the city's roads. To accommodate his new, proud possession, Desai had to renovate his garage.
The Ferrari Modena 360 was gifted to Sachin by champion F1 driver Michael Schumacher in 2002. Schumi rewarded Sachin for scoring 29 Test centuries and equalling the great Don Bradman's record.
